Our Story

Lizel Cubos Vinzon was born on April 14th of 1988 to Monaliza and Noel Vinzon. She is the eldest child of six children. Four younger sisters and two younger brothers. She was born and raised in Southern California most of her life then moved to Austin, Texas at age 15. Graduated High School, took some bible college(SWBTS) and community college courses(ACC), then moved back to Southern California and graduated as Valedictorian of Intercoast Colleges for Pharmacy Technician. Blessed with a job, she is working her way up to build more work experience and saving up for her own family.

Now happily married and a mother of two, she is a full time homemaker and is doing her best to glorify God in her calling as a wife, mother and homemaker.

Lizel's brief summary of how she came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior

The summer before my freshman year of High School, I did not know that the Lord has given me the understanding that without the Lord Jesus Christ I am condemned and destined to Hell. With this understanding I knew that my favorite cousin doesn't know Jesus or anything from the Word of God. Not thinking of my own soul, I was determined to save my cousin. I had him come by and listen to a VHS of the gospel message. While listening I felt a tugging in my heart. Throughout that time it's like the Lord showed me in a flash, my life in rebellion toward Him, my sins, how I needed Him and His forgiveness, the peace he promise those who come to him like how he has given to my parents. He has changed them, and he has used them to be consistent in sharing the gospel to me also never giving up on me. I knew I needed God and that I was destined for Hell for eternity without Him. So after the VHS was done I asked my dad to help me pray to the Lord for salvation and seeking His will, and how to live for Him. Ever since then God has been changing me and and using me for His glory even 'till now.

He graduated from Charter College with Medical Coding and Billing right after High school and after one year of unemployment, G-d blessed him with his first job which is his career field and plans to work further into a Hospital setting.

Kevin's brief summary of his "acceptance" of Jesus Christ as Savior

I have accepted Christ when Gods word came to life to my ears and my heart during a Catholic practice called "The Rosary"

During the Rosary, the scripture that has been read that came to life to me was Mark 7:5-9 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?” He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.” He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

In my mind I thought; God said, "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.
This practice contradicted what just had been read. They worship and bow down to this graven image called The Mary. That already violated 2 of Gods commandments. They substitute and reject Gods commandment for this tradition.

His words convicted me, my heart grew heavy and I was in need to REPENT. Gods word was revealed to me that night. From then on I was on fire to seek him.

How We Met:

We met at a wedding as kids. Lizel was one of the flower girls and Kevin was the ring barrier. We have seen each other at some parties. A couple years later, in our young adult years, we reunited again at another party in California and we started seeing each other ever since.

How Kevin proposed

Date: Sunday, October 31, 2010

From Lizel's 'straight forward' point of view: We were driving home and I had asked Kevin to take me to Walgreens to get some stuff. He told me that he had to take care of something first. So he drove us all the way to San Pedro - Point Fermin. We got out of the car and started walking around. I had no clue what on earth he plans to take care of because it was 8 pm on "Halloween" and there was no one around.... Then we stopped and he just started talking. He mentioned about the struggles and hardships we had faced together and apologized for many of his weaknesses. I hugged him and felt/heard his heart beating so fast. Then he knelt down and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! I told him how much I love him, how I wanted to spend my life with him serving the Lord with him all the days of my(our) life. I was so happy he finally asked me, and I didn't care much about a silly ring because marriage is not about a ring nor the wedding.

From Kevin's view: 2 weeks before I actually proposed to Lizel, I went looking out for a ring. I went to the mall to get an idea of what kind of rings were out there. I knew Lizel liked vintage rings and so I started looking. I found a couple of good ones and at the time I was broke but I got ideas. After, I was wondering what day I would do it on. I thought and thought and thought of a day and finally I decided to propose to her on the pagan holiday "Halloween". I wanted Oct 31 not to remembered as Halloween  but the day I proposed to her for the both of us and our future family.
Next, I thought of ideas of where to do it, I was thinking at the top of a mountain, the Queen Mary, by the ocean in the afternoon, I was really unsure. On Oct 30, I got the time to buy the ring until I ran into a BIG problem. The rings they had on display were all size 7 and Lizel was a size 5. It would take 2 weeks for them the get the order in. I was in a state of panic, that my plan wasn't going to work out. I stressed on what else I can do to propose, like...using the wedding band as a substitute? Buying those really cheap rings as a substitute...i was clueless.
Oct 31 came, Lizel and our wedding planners went shopping for some accessories for her dress. We spent literally about the whole day at the mall until night. In my head I was thinking, there goes the by the Ocean in the afternoon idea and It was pretty late so we couldn't go to the Queen Mary either. So it was either the top of a mountain or somewhere else. As soon as we left the mall, I had no ring and no idea where to do it.
Lizel tells me she has to buy some things at Walgreens and I tell her there's something I have to do first. I tried not to make it obvious. She kept asking me and I wouldn't tell her. While driving I started to prepare a speech in my head. So I drove by a spot where where had a serious talk and a spot where I first took her when we first when out, Point Fermin in San Pedro. From then I decided, that's where Ill do it, my other problem was I didn't have a ring. I had no choice to do it without the ring because I wanted to do it on this day.
So we walked around a little and stood by the lighthouse. I held her and I had her facing towards me. My heart was pounding so hard and so fast. I didn't know how to start it. So I told her my faults and my weaknesses and how I was sorry about the issues we faced. I told her that I loved her and from there I got down on my knee and asked. And she said "Yes"  I told her that the ring will be coming in soon. (LOL)

Here is a slide show I made for our wedding reception:

We got "re-merried again" two years later in Austin, Texas:

Story: We got married on November 13,. 2010 and after we sent our papers(had someone who worked at the post office to send the mail/paperwork) to the LA County reg. it has been two years since we haven't gotten a copy of our marriage cert/license. So we contacted them and they said they do not have any records. So we decided to remarry in Austin, TX! Just to make it "Official-official" lol :D Our little 'solemn' wedding at our home church.
